In the second half of 2024, we will continue the Café Curto cycle of showcases, which began in October 2020 and has already had more than 150 sessions. On a weekly basis, on Tuesday evenings, the public will be able to enjoy a variety of musical proposals on the stage of the Café Concerto of the Convento São Francisco. Between 3 September and 17 December, there will be 15 performances featuring artists with expressions ranging from the intimacy of folk song, to the experimentalism of electronica, the energy of pop, the boldness of jazz and the unique jazz and the singularity of world music.
Jasmim
Jasmim is Martim Braz Teixeira’s alter ego, so he delves into a cross-section of influences that touch on psychedelia, American folk and Portuguese popular music. On stage, as a solo artist, this complex palette is presented in its most naked form: voice, guitar and piano. With a career also linked to video making, perhaps not by chance, his music takes us back to late afternoon landscapes or to an old photo album, with a grain full of fuzzy memories. From Lisbon, he showed himself to the world in 2016 with the song ‘Primavera’ and in the following years with the EP ‘Oitavo Mar’ (2017) and the LP ‘Culto da Brisa’ (2019). More recently, he released the album ‘Acordado ou a Sonhar’ (Awake or Dreaming), a set of nine beautiful songs produced by Miguel Vilhena (Savanna, Niki Moss).
