“Concert in Dialogue: Folias e Sarabandas – Quarteto Santa Cruz / Ritornello AC”
The Santa Cruz Quartet presents a concert in dialogue with the audience on the theme: Folias e Sarabandas, with the collaboration of a singer and a dancer.
Folia is a dance that originated in Portugal at the end of the 15th century, characterised by its lively and energetic nature. The Sarabanda is a slow and solemn dance that originated in Spain in the 16th century.
Both dances became popular in European courts during the Baroque period (17th and 18th centuries) and had a significant impact on music, inspiring countless composers throughout history.
Let’s celebrate musical traditions and emphasise the unifying power of music.
