The Requiem Mass, KV 626, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791) is a work dating from 1791, which remained unfinished when he died on 5 December of the same year, being completed later by his friends and disciples Franz Xaver Süßmayr, Joseph Leopold Eybler, and possibly Franz Jacob Freystädtler. A complete version dated 1792, composed by Süssmayr, was given to Count Franz von Walsegg, who commissioned the piece for a Requiem service on 14 February 1792 to commemorate the first anniversary of his wife Anna’s death.
