Freedom, freedom! – A mirror of who we are and who we want to be.
The generation that lived through 25 April learnt the essential values for a more fraternal, free and just society on the streets. “In those days of amazement and celebration” (João Habitualmente), it was the “mirror of what we are and what we want to be” (Paula França).
In this commented concert from the project “Liberdade, liberdade! – Mirror of what we are and what we want to be”, Professor Paula Queiroga is invited to reflect on the theme of “Education and culture as a foundation for building a more humanist, supportive and sustainable society” based on the lyrics of the songs “Utopia” by José Afonso, “Queixa das almas jovens censuradas” by Natália Correia and José Mário Branco and “Trova do Vento que passa” (Manuel Alegre/António Portugal).
The concert will also include “Abandono” (David Mourão-Ferreira/Alain Oulman), “Por trás daquela janela” (José Afonso) and “As Sete Mulheres do Minho” (José Afonso), some of the songs that make up the EP Liberdade, liberdade! (Helena Sarmento, 2022).
Helena Sarmento will be accompanied by Pedro Martins (Portuguese guitar), Yuri Reis (guitar) and Filipe Teixeira (bass).
Concert commented by Paula Queiroga.
