NAPA used to be Men On The Couch. Only the name has changed, but the essence and the desire to create new music remains intact.
A basement on the island of Madeira was the starting point for four friends to strengthen their relationship through music. The contours of the band were formed between the energy of the Arctic Monkeys and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, the melodies of the Beatles and the sensibility of Caetano Veloso and Tom Jobim. YouTube has given their songs an unexpected reach, captivating listeners on and off the island. They swapped English for their mother tongue, and their grandmother’s basement for the studio.
In 2019 they recorded their first album “Senso Comum” at the well-known Black Sheep Studios in Sintra. The disc’s infectious melodies and raw, melancholic spirit gradually resonated in the hearts of passionate Portuguese people.
In 2023, the band released their second LP, “Logo Se Vê”, this time in a more mature guise. The new album challenges the premises established in “Senso Comum”, bringing greater complexity and inventiveness to the structure of the songs. The romantic pop vein continues to pulse through the body of the disc, but the hunger to discover new rhythms and musical textures is evident throughout the album.
