This show is part of the programme for the 13th Coimbra Conventual and Contemporary Confectionery Exhibition, which takes place on 9 and 10 March 2024.
Traditional Portuguese music has Buba Espinho, a young singer from Beja, as one of its most important spokespeople today. Despite his young age, Buba crosses musical genres like no other and travels from Cante to Fado with the same mastery with which he masters national pop music and more urban and current sounds. In a unique and unmissable performance, which will mark ten years since Cante Alentejano was elevated to UNESCO’s Intangible Heritage of Humanity, Buba Espinho’s voice joins the collective voices of the “Bandidos do Cante” – an all-male Alentejo choral group that has paved the way for the renewal and innovation of Cante Alentejano – and the polyphony of the Conimbrican women’s choir Coro das Mulheres da Fábrica. An unprecedented concert, which elevates and deconstructs the diversity of heritage, on the stage of the Grand Auditorium of the Convento São Francisco, as part of the 13th Coimbra Conventual and Contemporary Confectionery Exhibition.
