Concert presenting Wipeout Beat’s third album, ‘It Happens Because We Are, Not Because We Exist’
In the first part, Caustic, Babe! with the release of their debut album, ‘Cheap Moralisms’
A night that promises to be a raw and exciting musical portrait of two generations of musical nonconformity.
Wipeout Beat, a band from Coimbra known for their electrifying mix of vintage keyboards, raw guitars and multiple voices, present their new album ‘It Happens Because We Are, Not Because We Exist’, released by Lux Records.
This third LP marks a bold and emotional turning point in the band’s discography. Moving away from the traditional song structure, the group delves into long, intense tracks — some over 18 minutes long — where improvisation, texture and the emotion of the moment are the guiding thread. Recorded with a free spirit and a raw approach, the album asserts itself as a dense, liberating and deeply personal musical experience.
Caustic, Babe! arises from the urgency to vocalise, in a cathartic way, the advances and retreats of a precarious youth seeking its place in the world. Between work anxieties, the eagerness to find love at the end of the world and the constant gaze towards the danger around the corner, the band transforms the chaos of young existence into an electric discharge of rock and sincerity.
With a variable line-up and collective spirit, Caustic, Babe! was born out of unavoidable punk and post-punk influences, but it is above all the Coimbra legacy of raw and direct rock n’ roll that feeds its sound identity. A sound that does not ask for permission, but demands to be heard — loud, direct, urgent.
