MOVE is the concept and music of bassist Felipe Zenícola (New Brazilian Funk, Chinese Cookie Poets), saxophonist Yedo Gibson (Eke, Naked Wolf, Fish Wool) and drummer João Valinho (Rodrigo Amado Refraction Quartet, Fashion Eternal, Anthropic Neglect).
The three musicians interconnect through an unwavering awareness of each other’s present creation, where proactivity and adaptability are sought after, where communication and respect are paramount – where anything is possible and the impossible is desired. With a legacy of intense collaborations between its members, MOVE was created in 2022, between Sintra and Lisbon, as a result of the desire to create an authorial proposal that would bring together their shared ideas and make a relevant contribution to the creative music scene. Characterised by a careful and incisive construction, MOVE’s music knows no stylistic boundaries, translating into a unique dynamic that explores the limits of musical communication. It’s an urgency for action. Where change isn’t just inevitable, it’s ardently desired. Born of will. From a sense of interconnectivity springs assertive, decisive and instantaneous improvisation. Implacable like the rainforest, fertile like the flood, flourishing ideas of doubt.
