‘Femina’, released in 2009 by The Legendary Tigerman, is a seminal album in Portuguese music, considered one of the most important and remarkable of the 21st century.
Album of the Year in Portugal, it made a significant mark on the national music scene, being acclaimed in Expresso, Público and BLITZ, as well as receiving ovations from international critics in publications such as Rolling Stone, Les Inrocks, Rock & Folk, El Mundo or El Pais, O Globo, among many others.
In Portugal, he won the Platinum Award for sales of more than 20,000 units in physical format.
Internationally, more than 30,000 copies have been sold all over the world.
In ‘Femina’, The Legendary Tigerman explores themes such as love and desire and their unquestionable complexity, always in a fragile balance between rawness and delicacy, between the visceral and the fantastical.
A timeless album, ‘Femina’ includes guest appearances by Asia Argento, Peaches, Lisa Kekaula, Maria de Medeiros, Becky Lee, Phoebe Killdeer, Cibelle, Rita Redshoes, Cláudia Efe, Mafalda Nascimento, Dorit Chrysler, Rita Braga and Cais Sodré Cabaret.
The iconic image on the album cover was conceptualised and photographed by Jean Baptiste Mondino, a world-renowned photographer and artist.
In no time at all, The Legendary Tigerman had risen from cult artist to household name, and it was with the acclaimed ‘Femina’ that he inscribed his name in the pantheon of the most creative rock music made in Europe.
15 years on, the album will be celebrated, the songs will be celebrated and the glittering career of a leading artist in Europe’s most creative rock will be celebrated.
There will be three concerts.
Porto, Lisbon and Coimbra.
The album will be revisited, with the weapons and new languages that are needed.
There will be special guests.
And there will certainly be the elegant and refined rock that The Legendary Tigerman has rewritten in these 15 years of ‘Femina’.
