Over the last four decades, Telectu has been a gravitational force in the electronic and experimental music scene, moulding the national and international scene with sounds that echo through galaxies as yet unexplored. Founded in 1982 by Jorge Lima Barreto and Vítor Rua, this duo pioneered the use of minimalist, concrete and acousmatic languages, with a vision without borders, reaching distant corners of the Earth and sound space.
In 2017, a new force joined the Telectu constellation with the arrival of António Duarte, and then in 2018, Ilda Teresa Castro brought a new dimension to this musical universe. Since then, Telectu has been reborn with the energy of a supernova, captivating young creative minds and sonic explorers who recognise in this group the status of absolute pioneers.
The new show entitled Tau Ceti is a cosmic dive between memory and innovation. In this concert, Telectu revisit the original scores of iconic albums such as Beelzebub (1983) and Off Off (1984), recreating the sound and instrumental environment of the time. It’s a journey through time, where the electronic textures of the past are brought to the present with the sonic fidelity of the original instruments and technologies, transporting the audience to a dimension where time bends and music takes on new forms. As well as revisiting the past, Telectu continue to explore new sonic territories.
Each show is a unique manifestation of multimedia art, where the most advanced technologies merge with an aesthetic of rare visual and sonic beauty. Lighting, video and installation make up an immersive setting that captivates new audiences and renews interest in experimental music. Telectu proposes an encounter with the future, where sound is a spaceship that takes the audience through ever-changing musical landscapes. Telectu is an expanding cosmos, breaking with traditions and defying the laws of musical gravity, where each concert is an unrepeatable event in space-time. Telectu is more than a group, it’s a universe waiting to be explored.
