RAY is back with the album ‘Buffalo’, which will be released this year. This intimate and profound work was composed by the artist with his acoustic guitar, an instrument with which he will perform on stage alone, honouring his compositional process.
‘Buffalo’, RAY’s second full-length, is the artist’s reflection on his surroundings. Known for his critical and astute vision, in this album RAY tackles themes such as death, love, everyday life or even his constant rebirth and reinvention as a human being, as well as eternal existential anguish and observation of the chaotic world around him. There is maturity and urgency in RAY, so that every word carries its weight when released in front of a microphone.
‘Buffalo’ was produced by Paulo Furtado (The Legendary Tigerman), a renowned artist and producer, who brought his experience and talent to this long-player.
‘Luís Raimundo is an extremely talented musician, a singer with an extremely particular and powerful timbre. His career in Portuguese indie-rock has been extremely solid for two decades. The idea for this disc came about when I saw him singing, only with an acoustic guitar, without any amplification, in an open-air space in Anjos in the summer of 2023.
The way his voice won over an audience that was scattered between locals and tourists was absolutely impressive, creating a golden silence only broken by the round of applause between songs. What I witnessed that day was the birth of a unique singer, a modern-day troubadour, in the direct line of greats like Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash or Josh T. Pearson. His elegant and solid writing has been prolific in recent years, and there is now a repertoire that urgently needs to be put on disc.’
