The album PANGEA is a metaphor for unity in the fight against the climate crisis, reflecting the Earth’s contrasts through the seasons and accelerating climate change. Driven by ‘eco-anxiety’, Máximo explores the ecological and social crisis with a sensory and impressionistic approach. The album includes tracks for each season performed alongside Joppe van Noten (drums) and Jan Honnef (bass), as well as an interlude with Selma Uamusse and a solo piano.
PANGEA performs on stage in a trio format and with a penchant for improvisation, thus extending the album’s five tracks to create a longer narrative arc, making each performance unique, but maintaining the original structure. During the shows, there will be moments of solo piano, including visits to the previous album, but also parts of spoken word and exploration with electronics, synthesisers and pre-recorded tracks.
In addition to the music, the show will also have an audiovisual component created by Joana Cardoso and Rui Major, including new content and images from video clips made by various directors and artists, such as Raquel da Silva, João Pedro Vale and Nuno Ferreira, Paulo Lisboa, Paulo Castilho and Joana de Verona.
