‘Como Se Matam Primaveras’ is the name of the second album by Azorean Filipe Furtado. The new work consolidates the trio format with his comrades Filipe Fidalgo (saxophone) and Paulo Silva (drums). In the many stages since the release of ‘Prelúdio’ (Marca Pistola, 2022) and in the new writing and composition processes, they have gradually left the guitar in the background, so that the piano and keyboards can continue the universe that the single ‘Uma Coisa Linda Morrer’ promised. The songs on the new disc, which also features special guest appearances by Ana Maria Pardal and Luísa Levi, fearlessly embrace the growing and assertive space between the trio’s lyrics and instrumentals. The influences of jazz and traditional songs are intertwined with indie universes and more cinematic references. What matters is the journey and each of its harbours. The philosophical or poetic exercise of the album’s title, between the esoteric weight of the seasons, their colours, lights or semiotic nuances, are actually dressed up as autumns, both in the writing and in the melodic and harmonic choices of the tracks. They will also be unfulfilled ideals.
