Armed with a repertoire to which all the members contribute compositionally, PAIRA present themselves wrapped in an aesthetic that fuses composition with free improvisation. Since the reinvention of compositions and musicians in real time is the group’s only subconscious norm, the final result is (in)determined as much by chance as by choice.
As something that ‘hovers’ in the air, we like the lightness, flexibility and possibility of rapid transformation that comes with the freedom of improvisation. In order to hover, we also make sure to keep the invisible engine that allows us to enjoy this sustainability, navigate the dichotomy of stability and instability, and engage in dialogue through personal choices, functional.
